Role and contribution

Mr Sharp provides statistical support to all the Research Lines within the InterAct project.

Scientific Profile


Mr Sharp has extensive experience of working as a medical statistician within both academia and industry, and has contributed to the design, analysis and reporting of numerous clinical trials and epidemiological studies.  He has also previously undertaken methodological research in the area of meta-analysis.  In his current role, he leads the statistical work of the MRC Epidemiology Unit in Cambridge, collaborating with scientists involved in all the work programmes in the unit, ranging from genetics through to lifestyle intervention trials in diabetes and obesity.  As well as his involvement in InterAct, he is working with Dr Nita Forouhi on the relationship between dietary fat intake and annual weight and waist change in the DioGenes study.  Mr Sharp teaches on the MPhil in Epidemiology and Biostatistics in Cambridge, and is an Honorary Lecturer at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
