Role and contribution
Dr Wendel-Vos is an investigator at the Centre for Prevention and Health Services Research of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment and will contribute to workpackage 2.6.
Scientific profile
Dr Wendel-Vos is trained in epidemiology. She conducted her PhD study at Wageningen University in collaboration with the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment, investigating public health aspects of physical activity. During her PhD she conducted a validation study for the short questionnaire to assess health enhancing physical activity (SQUASH) which was recently selected the national standard questionnaire about physical activity. In September 1997 she was appointed as a researcher at the Centre for Prevention and Health Services Research of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment. Her current research activities and interests include investigating environmental influences on physical activity behaviour, effectiveness of lifestyle interventions and the role of physical activity in the development of chronic diseases and obesity.
